Louisiana is the only other state in the United States who has a current law on the use or possession of kratom. 

In 2012, the state of Louisiana banned the sale of kratom to minors.  As long as you are 18 years or older you can purchase and possess kratom and mirtagynine.

As of 2014, kratom is legal to possess and buy in all other 47 states although there is pending legislation in a couple.  Stay tuned to receive all updates for kratom legal info and if kratom is legal in the Untied States.

Is kratom legal in Tennessee?

This is another case like Indiana which the chemical mitragynine has been banned and is illegal to possess. Tennessee law is unclear in stating the plant kratom itself, making this another one of those cases like Indiana where you can possess the plant, but not extracts.

So, there are a few exceptions to the rule of whether or not kratom is legal to possess and use.

Indiana is one of these states.  In 2012, Indiana has banned the chemical mirtagynine but not the raw plant itself.  This means there is a gray area in this state and that the law cannot prosecute if you are in possession of the raw plant.  As long as you are not purchasing kratom tinctures or kratom extracts you should be good to go in Indiana.

Yes, as of April 2014 the plant mitragyna speciosa is legal in the United States.  There are a few exceptions though.  Kratom has been becoming popular over here in the Western World, so local authorities have turned their attention to this plant.  Kratom has many benefits and has little risk of dependency, but unfortunately some people have tried to classify kratom in the same category as bath salts and spice.  For kratom lovers this is very disappointing as we know that kratom is all natural and reaps many benefits.
